We had a great experience with Jeff and Rob and team for a full basement renovation this winter and are super happy with the outcome. The whole process, from initial walkthrough to finishing touches, was well communicated, timely, high quality and to budget (‘no surprises’ promised, none received!) and they kept in touch constantly to check in, ask for ideas, verify selections and talk through issues. Jeff couldn’t do enough to make sure we were totally happy with the outcome, and stepped up to help out with new/revised requests outside the original scope of work. We absolutely look forward to working with Jeff and Rob again on other projects and wholeheartedly recommend them for whatever project you need them for. They’re the best!

We finally decided to take on a dreaded project of having our kitchen remodeled. What we thought would be a stress filled project turned out to be stress free and we are so glad we decided to get it done. Jeff was absolutely WONDERFUL and kept us informed of each step making sure we understood what was going on (I appreciated this extra effort very much!) Our kitchen cabinets used to be an eye sore for me and now they are my favorite part of our kitchen. I cannot thank McKinnon enough for such a great experience!
My wife and I had Jeff worked on my kitchen cabinet and staircase railing after water damage. We are extremely happy with his work and responsiveness to our needs. He was willing to work with our budget and still provided a quality work. We will work with him again in the future if there is any need for carpentry work.

Jeff removed some old built-in in our closet to prepare then for installation of a custom closet system. He was very responsive and thoughtful as we considered how to approach the project. We are in an old condo that has horsehair plaster walls and his knowledge and expertise in working with the older walls was very helpful. I would definitely recommend him and his team.

McKinnon Painting & Carpentry is the very best for any home or commercial project. We purchased a fixer-upper that has needed a full-overhaul, but our first priority was the kitchen. We knew what we were taking on, as this was our second time renovating an antique home, but it turned out to be even more than we expected. We originally hired some terrible teams, and Jeff and Rob came in mid-demo and really saved the day for our family including our < 1 year old. They inherited poorly ordered cabinets, some very difficult sub-contractors, and a job we originally thought was cosmetic that winded up being fully structural. They built us the most beautiful kitchen, with some custom fabrications, they saved us as much $$$ as they could, helped us manage the inherited sub’s, helped transport our appliances when the luxury store we bought them from fell short - we just wished we’d found them from the start. Any future building work we do in the area will be with Jeff & Rob. If you’re thinking twice for any reason, go with McKinnon Carpentry & Painting.

They truly care about their customers as the craftsmanship of their work can be seen in the beautiful remodeled kitchens, decks, seen on their website. McKinnon also shows they care about their customers by providing free estimates on their work and providing general liability insurance to protect their customers! McKinnon is maybe more than a painting and contracting company...they are also a company that wants their customers to be educated as they tell you what you should be avoiding when doing business with a contractor!!
We recently sold our home and moved into a new one, and Jeff and his team have done solid work at both locations—including some very tricky repair on an 1890's window in our old place, and more handyman-type jobs than I can count (wall-mounting a TV, light plumbing work, cleaning out bathroom vent, sealing a leaky window). We're working with Jeff right now to make and install built-in shelving, and he has consistently been easy to communicate with, friendly, and professional—never makes you feel like you're asking a stupid question. A great guy who does great work. Couldn't be happier to have found him!
Jeff is one of the most responsive contractors I've worked with and he aims to please. He and his team built and installed a shelving unit around my TV in less time than it took other contractors to just return my call! He's professional, very experienced, and will go above and beyond. He even finished up some work that another contractor didn't. We'll be using Jeff again, and I would 150% recommend him to anyone looking for a contractor, painter, handyman...anything!
This summer, we hired Jeff and his team to work on a few projects at our house including removing a french door to exchange it with a slider and replacing rotting wood around our doors and garage and exchanging it with composite. Throughout the process, Jeff’s team was incredibly easy to work with and, frankly, we enjoyed having them around. His team was conscientious, friendly, extremely professional, and trustworthy. They communicated well throughout the job, they were prompt, and they worked clean. Ultimately, the jobs they completed turned out better than we imagined. When they replaced the french door they had to completely reframe the new door, and they even did a seamless job color matching the paint (because we didn’t have the paint) and repainting our walls. We absolutely expect to use Jeff and his team for future projects and we are grateful for their work.
Best general contractor around. We had our kitchen and bathroom remodeled first, then our deck. Both projects required painting. Both times it came out great, clean lines and no drips. I would use them for any projects moving forward and can't wait to have them work on my mother-in-law suite..Thanks again guys, we love MP&C!

I had such a positive experience with Jeff and Rob. I refinished two sets of very old and warped stairs. They came out, did a walk through, set my expectations for cost and timeline. We worked together to determine the best thing to do was to replace one full set of stairs and refinish my entryway floor. They were able to accommodate it all. They were super communicative, always on time, beyond polite and respectful - especially on days when I had to work from home. They were dependable and meticulous with the job. They truly went above and beyond and touched up walls and trim that were not part of the scope. The stairs were functional and the house was clean at the end of each day. They came back a week after the job was finished to do touch ups and seriously went thru with a fine tooth comb and made sure everything was perfect. I will 1000% work with them again on my next home project.

Jeff and Rob did a really great job on the finish carpentry for our basement remodel, finishing ahead of their estimated time and really going above and beyond. They were able to correct mistakes our original framer made which weren't allowing them to make the work perfect. That's the kind of guys you're getting with Jeff and Rob: they're perfectionists who want to make sure you're happy at each step in the process. We had an issue with the doors that had been ordered and rather than making us wait to get the mill to correct it, they took it upon themselves to fix the issues and keep the job on track. We're truly looking forward to having them help us again on future jobs.

For my latest kitchen renovation, I turned to them and I have no regrets about my decision. Their team was very professional from the time I contacted them to the time they delivered the work. Not only do they excel in painting and carpentry, but they also proved to be exceptional general contractors.They have lots of versatility as they also assisted in redesigning our bathroom last year, and as you can imagine, it also came out lovely. My wife and I hired Jeff for a complete bathroom gut and remodel. The project was daunting and many contractors passed due to the complexity and scope of the what was required. The bathroom had been badly damaged from a leaking toilet that sprang above the shower, and the entire space had not been touched since the early 70's when the house was built. We were impressed with how eager and enthusiastic Jeff was. He offered great ideas and solutions to bring the space to life, while still allowing us the creative control to personalize it. We went from a hideous (and not functioning) modular shower that was straight out of the disco era to a custom, subway tiled walk in shower. Jeff even added a mud room with a gorgeous built in wall unit to really maximize the space. My wife and I were thoroughly impressed with Jeff's communication, professionalism, and workmanship throughout the duration of the project. He is truly a master of his craft while still being approachable and down to earth. We would highly recommend McKinnon Painting & Carpentry and will absolutely hire Jeff for our next home improvement project.
We found Jeff on Google and asked him to come to give us a quote for just building a partition wall. However he ended up being our general contractor who helped guide us through a six month renovation. We would highly recommend Jeff and his team for any home improvement project. He is very communicable, gets back to you right away. We also found Jeff to be honest and forthcoming when unavoidable issues arose. He came back when needed to finish up small jobs and paint touch ups. His carpentry and painting skills are excellent. We will use Jeff again in the future and have already recommended him to friends.
I rely heavily on reviews myself. Based on the reviews for this provider, I chose them. My experience was entirely consistent with the others. This is an outstanding company. I would highly recommend them. I will certainly use them in the future. The owner did the work. He was very friendly and professional. This was a small job. A heavy painting fell and damaged our trim. Another lesson learned-four heavy paintings or pictures, certain handymen may not be the best fit.
Jeff and his crew did a phenomenal job of remodeling our kitchen. Jeff was flexible with timing as we waiting for our cabinets to arrive (since it's unpredictable during COVID). At every planning step he was offering to help with anything we needed. During the remodel and wall remodel we ran into a literal brick wall that was unexpected. He created a couple custom pieces in our kitchen to fix that (corner shelf and wine rack)+ a cabinet that ended up being shorter than the others (our mistake, not his) to which he created a mail shelf for us to unify it. We now have him getting us quotes on other parts of the house.

McKinnon was really good about giving me a comprehensible quote for what I needed. I had to get my kitchen redone and they were perfect. I explained to them what I wanted and they offered me various options. They kept their deadlines and were very professional. You always want people who are professional when they are working inside your house. I hired them again months later to redo my bathroom, same enjoyable experience again!

Home remodeling is such an overwhelming task when you want so much redone at one time from the kitchen to the bathroom, to the deck and fireplace. Then on top of that you got stuff with the house that just comes up in the middle like a roof issue. We were kinda all over the place lol but they took the time to be realistic and personable, explaining what to avoid, how long it takes and how to deal with the unexpected. They really are more than just a painting and carpentry company, they are some highly professional general contractors who know what they are doing. I am so happy they helped us put it all together and make some amazing home additions.

My husband and I recently purchased a small cape and were looking to repaint the entire first floor. We contacted McKinnon Painting and Jeff came out to give us an estimate. He informed us it would be a two day job with him and his team. We scheduled the job for a week later. Jeff and his team arrived right on time and immediately got to work. Jeff made sure to explain his expected working time frame ahead of time and at the end of day one explained exactly what they had done and what they would complete the next day. Once the job was finished (right on time), Jeff walked me around showing places that he had patched up and details that I would have otherwise missed. He gave my husband and I some time in the house to look for and identify any areas we wanted touched up before he left. Overall we had an excellent experience, timeline and estimate were both upheld and the work was done efficiently and professionally. The attention to detail is still remarkable. I have already referred McKinnon Painting to several friends.
